A Review on Chlorination of Harvested Rainwater

چکیده

The supply of safe drinking water to rural communities has always been challenging, unlike in most large cities where government authorities have constructed central systems. In many areas, primary sources such as surface and groundwater are at risk contamination with rapid agricultural industrial growth climate change-related issues. Rainwater harvesting is an ancient practice for communities, the momentum around its use continually growing recent years. However, lack sustainable treatment facilities on a small scale encourages dwellers consume harvested rainwater (HRW) without any even though untreated HRW may multiple health impacts cases. There several methods treating HRW. While chlorination extensively used disinfect volumes, e.g., systems), it not widely adopted scale. We present scoping review explore whether could be viable option disinfecting domestic level. It found that inadequate prior chlorine disinfection produce byproducts (DBPs). Limited data DBP concentrations available assess implications. Based this review, argued level when limitations associated method (such storage, appropriate technology, lessening DBPs by lowering total organic carbon before through other methods) resolved.

A Review of Roof Harvested Rainwater in Australia

To address concern regarding water sustainability, the Australian Federal Government and many state governments have implemented regulatory mechanisms and incentives to support households to purchase and install rainwater harvesting systems. This has led to an increase in rainwater harvesting in regional and urban Australia. This review examines the implementation of the regulatory mechanisms a...

Microbiological Values of Rainwater Harvested in Adelaide

In Australia, rainwater is an important source of water for many households. Unlike municipal water, rainwater is often consumed untreated. This study investigated the potential contamination of rainwater by microorganisms. Samples from 53 rainwater tanks across the Adelaide region were collected and tested using Colilert™ IDEXX Quanti-Tray*/2000. Twenty-eight out of the 53 tanks (53%) containe...

The Effect of Photovoltaic Nanomaterial Roofing on Harvested Rainwater Quality

The global freshwater and energy crisis have prompted worldwide investments in rainwater harvesting and solar energy systems. As the implementation of these two systems develops concurrently, they can easily become integrated into one rooftop structure. Photovoltaic systems have the potential to leach heavy metals and other toxins from newly installed, broken or aged modules. Since the type of ...

Solar Disinfection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in Harvested Rainwater: A Step towards Potability of Rainwater

Efficiency of solar based disinfection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa) in rooftop harvested rainwater was evaluated aiming the potability of rainwater. The rainwater samples were exposed to direct sunlight for about 8-9 hours and the effects of water temperature (°C), sunlight irradiance (W/m2), different rear surfaces of polyethylene terephthalate bottles, variable microbial concentr...
